Malini Bhattacharya

Malini Bhattacharya studied English literature at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, where she has lived most of her life. She has strayed into Buffalo, Delhi, and Bombay to study and to work as a teaching assistant, editor, copywriter and communications specialist. Malini translates the work of women writers, between English and Bengali. She has translated select writings of Susan Sontag, Roxane Gay, Martha Ostenso, Lydia Davis, Eve Ensler, Tatiana Tolstaya and others into Bengali and the poems of the Bengali poet Tanuj Sarkar into English. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in The Bengaluru Review, Palette Poetry, Coldnoon Travel Poetics, Litro, Tehelka, Cerebration, The News Minute, The Better India, Agony Opera, among others, and an anthology of mental health writing - “Side Effects of Living” by Speaking Tiger Books. She published her first book of short stories - “Irregular Love” - in 2022, from The Wicked Press, a small independent publishing house she runs with her husband.
