Kamalakar Bhat is a bilingual writer, translator, and English professor. He has published three collections of poetry in Kannada: Churuparu Reshime (PUTINA Award, 2006), Mugiyada Madhyahna (2010), and Jagadajate Matukate (2017). His translation of Namdeo Dhasal’s works was published in 2018, while his co-translation of Hemant Divate’s Nakali Digilu was released in 2024. Bhat has edited and co-edited multiple volumes, including Sangam (2023) and In the Light of Shiva (2024). His essays and translations have appeared on prominent platforms such as Indian Literature and Outlook. His latest book, Courtesy of Criticism: Selected Essays of Kirtinath Kurtkoti, was published by Penguin Random House India. A recipient of the PUTINA Award (2006) and the B. H. Shridhar Award (2023), he has contributed extensively to Kannada magazines and academic journals. His poetry has been featured in AGNI, Indian Literature, Muse India, Kritya, and anam, while his translations have appeared in The Bangalore Review, TBLM, Muse India, Outlook, and Indian Literature.
