Suchitra Ramachandran, Co-Founder

Suchitra writes fiction in Tamil and translates between Tamil and English. Her work has appeared in journals including Asymptote, Usawa, South Parade and Narrative Magazine. She won the Asymptote Close Approximations Prize for Fiction Translation in 2017. Suchitra was selected under the South Asia Speaks mentorship programme for 2022, where she was mentored by Arunava Sinha. ‘The Abyss’, a translation of Tamil writer Jeyamohan’s novel ‘Ezhaam Ulagam‘, her first full-length translated work was published by Juggernaut Books in 2023. It was shortlisted for the ALTA First Translation Prize in 2024. ‘Oli‘ (January 2020), a collection of short stories marked her debut as a writer in Tamil. Suchitra lives in Bengaluru, India.

Priyamvada Ramkumar, Co-Founder

Priyamvada Ramkumar translates literary fiction from Tamil to English. Her debut translation, Jeyamohan’s Stories of the True (Juggernaut Books, 2022) was a finalist for ALTA’s National Translation Award – Prose (2023). She was part of the inaugural cohort of South Asia Speaks’ mentorship programme in 2021 and selected into the 2022 ALTA Emerging Translator Mentorship Program. She was also awarded a 2023 PEN/Heim Translation Fund grant for her work on Jeyamohan’s White Elephant. Her works have been published in various journals including Usawa, Spillwords Press and Asymptote. She lives in Chennai, India.

Venky Natarajan, Advisor

Venky Natarajan is a co-founder and managing partner of Lok Capital, a social impact investment fund in India. He is also a founding member of a school for minority children in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and a member of the executive committee of Paathashaala, an environmentally sustainable school. Venky founded Monument Universe, a project aimed at making historical monuments in India more accessible to the common public. As an extension of his interest in the arts and heritage, he acts as an advisor to The Mozhi Trust.
